It has since then developed and now approximately 200 museums use this particular database program.

Brief project description (published aims and objectives):
As a result of the development of the database program WinRegimus, and the observations and experiences from museum staff that had taken it into use, new requirements and demands on the system developed and increased. There were shortcomings that museums with very large collections found problematic. For example, Primus is an hierarchical system, i.e. one can register objects or collections at either the acquisition, series or object level. If several objects are registered first as a series, the data which the objects have in common will follow down to the object level. This is regardless of material, i.e. objects, photographs or art. So, Primus was launched as a new project aiming to improve the overall administration of collections, including accessions, location, loans, exhibits and conservation. Primus aims to develop and preserve knowledge of the history of the objects and collections in a meaningful context, and has as one of its' goals to make the database, or rather the knowledge and information in the database, accessible to a larger public over Internet (Primus Web).
