National Overview 1.8 - Sweden

1.8.i International Initiatives
i. Overall Comments:
If museums have international contacts, Kulturrådet does not influence in that. But a lot of museums are partners in EC projects, but not, as we know, anything in the area of documentation and collections management.

There are about 15 Swedes who are members of CIDOC, although none of them have a central position for the moment.

Brief description (published aims and objectives):
SAMSOEK is a project to develop scripts for querying in many databases simultaneously. It is a brief code (provider) to add to the database who can communicate with a search engine. They use Z39.50 and a subset from the CIMI profile 1.0.

1.8.iii Regional Initiatives
i. Overall Comments:
There are some regional initiatives in the area of co-operation containing archives, libraries and museums. These 'MLA-initiatives' (ABM-inititiv) try to build new databases utilising material from the whole sector. The idea is to give a 'one face concept' for the public.
